Aryeh is a Hebrew name that means "lion". In the Book of Genesis Jacob compares his son Judah to a lion's cub, which is why the lion became the emblem of that tribe and why Aryeh is often paired with Yehuda in Jewish families. The name is used almost exclusively within observant Jewish communities in the United States; it has climbed from number 2018 in 2000 to number 1281 in 2025, its best rank so far.
