Arielle is the French feminine form of Ariel, a Hebrew name that means "lion of God" and appears in the Bible as a poetic name for Jerusalem. Disney's Little Mermaid turned Ariel into a girls' name in 1989, and Arielle offered a more clearly feminine spelling. Arielle has been in the US top 1000 since 2000, peaked at number 303 in 2016 and ranks number 486 in 2025.
