Ariela is a feminine form of Ariel, a Hebrew name that means "lion of God" and appears in the Bible as a poetic name for Jerusalem. The -a ending is the Spanish, Italian and modern Hebrew way of making the name clearly feminine, while English speakers more often use Arielle or Ariella. Ariela has climbed from number 2,982 in 2000 to a best rank of number 1,141 in 2024 and stands at number 1,263 in 2025.
