Anakin is an invented name created by George Lucas for Anakin Skywalker, the gifted Jedi who becomes Darth Vader in the Star Wars films, and has no meaning in any traditional language. Fans often gloss it as the "chosen one", the title the prequel trilogy gives the character. In the United States Anakin entered the top 1000 in 2014, was number 909 in 2015, peaked at 544 in 2023 and ranks 648 in 2025.
