Anahi is of uncertain origin and is usually explained as a Guarani name from the legend of the ceibo tree of Argentina and Paraguay, where Anahí is a young woman who turns into the tree's red "flower" after her death. The Mexican singer and actress Anahí made the name widely known across Latin America in the 2000s. In the United States Anahi peaked at number 290 in 2006, dipped to number 699 in 2021 and has recovered to number 482 in 2025.
