Alitzel is a modern Latin American coinage that builds on Itzel, a Mayan name usually explained as "rainbow lady" or "morning star", with the soft opening of names like Alicia or Ailany. It is used almost exclusively in Mexican and Mexican American families. In the United States Alitzel jumped from number 2389 in 2022 to number 876 in 2023, its first and so far only year in the top 1000, and stands at number 1382 in 2025.
