Aden is a streamlined spelling of Aidan, the Irish Aodhán, which means "little fire" after the Celtic sun god Aodh. It is also the name of a historic port city in Yemen and is sometimes read as a form of Eden. In the United States Aden ranked number 873 in 2000 and peaked at number 244 in 2006 in the great Aiden wave; it has fallen steadily since, from number 370 in 2015 to number 1008 in 2025.
