Zymir is a modern American coinage built from the fashionable Z- opening and the -mir ending of names like Amir and Samir; through Amir it is often read as "prince" or "commander", though the name itself has no established meaning. It is part of a wave of new Z names, from Zyon to Zaire, that gained ground in the 2010s. Zymir rose from number 8208 in 2000, entered the US top 1000 in 2024 and ranks number 946 among boys' names in 2025.
