Zamir has two separate sources: in Hebrew it is the word for "song" and for the "nightingale", a nature name used in modern Israel, while in Arabic it goes back to damir, "heart" or "conscience". In the United States it is chosen mainly by African American and Muslim families and matches the popular sound of Amir and Zahir. Zamir entered the US top 1000 in 2022, peaked at number 698 in 2023 and ranks number 780 in 2025.
