Yamir is a name of uncertain origin that is used mainly in Latin American and Hispanic families; it is usually explained as a variant of the Arabic Amir, meaning "prince" or "commander", shaped like Yahir and Yadiel. A Sanskrit word yamir, "moon", is sometimes cited as well. In the United States Yamir is rare, peaking at number 2478 in 2023 and ranking number 2762 in 2025.
