Xenia is Greek and means "hospitality" or "guest-friendship", the sacred duty of welcoming strangers in the ancient world. The Orthodox Church venerates Saint Xenia of Saint Petersburg, which keeps the name alive in Russia and Greece. In the United States Xenia has always been rare: it stood at number 2937 in 2000, reached its best rank of 2394 in 2023 and sits at number 2931 in 2025.
