Xena was created for the television series Xena: Warrior Princess, which ran from 1995 to 2001 with Lucy Lawless in the title role; it is modeled on the Greek Xenia, from xenos, "stranger" or "guest", the root of the ancient virtue of hospitality. The name carries the heroine's fearless image and is sometimes spelled Zena. Xena has moved from number 2,157 in 2000 to a best rank of number 1,025 in 2022 and stands at number 1,270 in 2025.
