Tripp is a Southern American nickname for a boy who is "the third", carrying the same name as his father and grandfather, in the way that Trey and Trace are; it is also an English surname that may go back to the word trip, a dance step. It is used mostly on its own today, with the preppy charm of Rhett and Royce. Tripp entered the US top 1000 in 2008, peaked at number 437 in 2022 and ranks number 522 in 2025.
