Torin is a name of uncertain origin, usually explained as Irish for "chief"; others see it as a Celtic diminutive of Thor, the Norse god of thunder. Its Tor- sound sits well with Celtic favorites like Declan and Rowan without being common. Torin stood at number 1781 in 2000, entered the top 1000 for the first time in 2018 at number 991 and ranks number 1350 in 2025.
