Tori is a short form of Victoria, from the Latin word for "victory", that became a stand-alone name in the United States; in Japanese the same sound means bird. It had its heyday in the 1990s, when television and singer Tori Amos made it familiar. Tori ranked number 262 in 2000, dropped out of the top 1000 in 2021 and stands at number 1337 in 2025.
