Toni is a short form of Antonia and Antoinette, the feminine forms of Anthony, an old Roman family name of uncertain meaning that is popularly explained as "priceless" or linked to the Greek anthos, "flower". The novelist Toni Morrison, the singer Toni Braxton and the actress Toni Collette are its best-known bearers. Toni was still at number 547 in the United States in 2000 but has since dropped out of the top 1000 to number 2274 in 2025.
