Tatiana is the Russian feminine form of the Roman family name Tatius, borne by a legendary king of the Sabines; its original meaning is unknown, and it is usually explained simply as "of the Tatius family". Saint Tatiana, a third-century martyr, made it a beloved name in Russia, and Pushkin gave it to the heroine of Eugene Onegin. Tatiana ranked number 251 in the United States in 2000, its best year, and has slipped to number 1106 in 2025.
