Taliyah is a modern American spelling of Talia, which has two roots: the Hebrew Talya, "dew from God", and the Greek Thalia, "to blossom" or "to flourish", the name of the muse of comedy. The -iyah ending follows the model of Aaliyah, which became hugely popular around 2000. In the United States Taliyah entered the top 1000 in 2001, peaked at number 656 in 2009 and ranks 1143 in 2025.
