Starr is the English word "star" with a doubled r, which turns it into a surname-style first name; it is also a genuine English surname, famously adopted by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. As a girls' name it had its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s. Starr was at number 1052 in 2000, briefly rose again to number 1568 in 2019 and ranks number 2747 in 2025.
