Sky is an English nature name taken straight from the word for the heavens, which came into English from the Old Norse sky, "cloud". It emerged in the 1970s as a free-spirited choice and remains simpler and airier than its cousin Skye, the Scottish island. Sky has been in the US top 1000 for girls since 2010, peaked at number 712 in 2021 and ranks number 949 in 2025.
