Saroya is a modern name of uncertain origin, most likely a respelling of Soraya, the Persian name for the Pleiades star cluster that is usually glossed as "princess" or "jewel of the sky". It was almost never given in the United States until very recently. Saroya appeared at number 3686 in 2024 and leaped to number 1497 in 2025, by far its best rank, so it is a brand-new arrival on the American name scene.
