Sariah is best known from the Book of Mormon, where Sariah is the wife of the prophet Lehi; it is usually understood as a form of the Hebrew Sarah, "princess" or "noblewoman", with the ending -iah that appears in Mariah and Nevaeh-era names. It is particularly popular in Utah and among Latter-day Saint families. Sariah peaked at number 583 in 2011, dropped out of the US top 1000 in 2024 and returns at number 951 among girls' names in 2025.
