Robyn is the feminine spelling of Robin, which started in the Middle Ages as a pet form of Robert, "bright fame", and later became the name of the red-breasted songbird. The y spelling was adopted for girls in the 20th century to set it apart from the boys' Robin. In the United States Robyn ranked number 683 in 2000, drifted out of the top 1000 in the 2000s and sits at number 1441 in 2025.
