Reuven is the Hebrew form of Reuben and means "behold, a son", the words of Leah at the birth of Jacob's firstborn in the Book of Genesis. The spelling with v reflects modern Hebrew pronunciation and is the usual choice in Jewish communities. In the United States Reuven has climbed slowly from number 3134 in 2000 to number 2383 in 2025, its best rank to date.
