Remy is the French name Rémy, from the Latin Remigius, usually explained as "oarsman"; Saint Remigius baptized Clovis, king of the Franks, around the year 500. Americans met the name in Pixar's Ratatouille (2007), whose rat chef Remy sparked its rise, and it is also used for girls, often spelled Remi. For boys Remy entered the top 1000 in 2009, peaked at number 356 in 2020 and sits at number 408 in 2025.
