Quentin is the French form of the Roman name Quintinus, from quintus, "fifth", once given to a fifth child or a child born in the fifth month. Saint Quentin, a third-century missionary martyred in Gaul, gave his name to the French town, and the director Quentin Tarantino is the name's best known American bearer. Quentin stood at number 325 in 2000 and has declined gradually since, ranking number 968 among boys' names in 2025.
