Oriana is a romance name usually traced to the Latin aurum, "gold", or oriri, "to rise", so it is read as "golden" or "dawn". It was the name of the heroine in the medieval Spanish romance Amadis of Gaul and was later used as a poetic title for Elizabeth I; journalist Oriana Fallaci is its best-known modern bearer. Oriana has stayed between number 1355 and number 2212 since 2000 and ranks 1791 in 2025.
