Viviana is the Italian and Spanish form of Vivian, from the Latin vivus, and means "alive" or "lively". It was the name of an early Christian martyr honored in Rome, which kept it in use across southern Europe. In the United States Viviana has been a steady presence in the top 1000 since 2000, climbing from number 392 that year to number 331 in 2025, its best rank so far.
