Memphis is a place name twice over: the ancient capital of Egypt, whose Egyptian name Men-nefer means "enduring and beautiful", and the Tennessee city on the Mississippi named after it. The American Memphis is the home of the blues, of Sun Studio and of Elvis Presley's Graceland, which gives the name its musical swagger. Memphis entered the US top 1000 in 2006, peaked at number 404 in 2021 and ranks 640 in 2025.
