Marwa is an Arabic name after al-Marwa, one of the two hills in Mecca between which pilgrims walk during the Hajj in memory of Hagar's search for water. The word itself is usually explained as "white stone" or "flint" and also names a fragrant herb. It is popular across North Africa and the Middle East. In the United States Marwa has risen from number 2846 in 2000 to number 1816 in 2024 and number 1720 in 2025, its best rank yet.
