Marbella is the name of the resort town on Spain's Costa del Sol, popularly read as mar bella, "beautiful sea", although the town's older Arabic-era name is of uncertain meaning. As a given name it is used almost entirely in Hispanic families, who hear in it an echo of Maribel and Isabella. Marbella ranked number 2845 in 2000 and around number 2300 through the 2010s before rising to number 1364 in 2025, its best rank yet.
