Madalyn is an American spelling of Madeline, the English form of Magdalene, the title of Mary Magdalene, meaning "woman from Magdala"; Magdala was a village on the Sea of Galilee whose name means "tower". The -lyn ending gives the classic name a modern look that peaked in the 2000s along with Madison. Madalyn reached number 292 in 2008, slipped out of the US top 1000 in 2022 and is back at number 946 among girls' names in 2025.
