Lyric is an English word name that goes back to the Greek lyrikos, of the lyre, and means "song" or "the words of a song". It became a given name in the 1990s alongside Harmony, Melody and Cadence and is one of the few musical word names used for boys as well. In the United States Lyric has been in the top 1000 since 2000, peaked at number 271 in 2014 and has since slid to 640 in 2025.
