Cadence is an English word name from the Latin cadere, "to fall", that means "rhythm" or the flow of sounds in music and speech. It came out of nowhere in the early 2000s, helped by its musical meaning and the ready nickname Cadie. In the United States Cadence entered the top 1000 in 2002, shot to number 199 by 2007 and has fallen steadily since, from number 340 in 2015 to number 1022 in 2025.
