Lilith

What does the name Lilith mean?

Lilith is an ancient name from Akkadian and Hebrew that is usually explained as "of the night" or "night monster", from the Semitic root for night. In Jewish legend Lilith was Adam's first wife, who refused to submit and left Eden, which has made her a feminist symbol in recent decades, as in the Lilith Fair music festival. Lilith entered the US top 1000 in 2010, climbed from number 587 in 2015 to a peak of number 232 in 2023 and ranks number 277 among girls' names in 2025.
