Liana is usually a short form of names such as Eliana, Juliana or Liliana, and it doubles as the word for the climbing vine of tropical forests, from the French liane. Its meaning therefore depends on the longer name: Eliana is often read as "my God has answered", Juliana as "youthful". Liana has been in the US top 1000 since 2000 and has risen from number 810 that year to number 386 in 2025, its best rank so far.
