Leyla is the Turkish and Azerbaijani form of Layla, the Arabic name that means "night" or "dark beauty", immortalized in the Persian romance of Leyla and Majnun. In the United States this spelling is used by Turkish, Azeri and Muslim families and by parents who want a less common look than Layla. Leyla entered the top 1000 in 2005, peaked at number 586 in 2020 and ranks number 611 in 2025.
