Lakelyn is a modern American coinage that joins the word "lake" with the ending -lyn of Brooklyn and Adalyn, in the same way Oaklyn and Raelynn were formed. It belongs to the wave of nature-based inventions that American parents have embraced in the 2010s and 2020s. In the United States Lakelyn was number 2003 in 2015, entered the top 1000 in 2022 and has risen to 673 in 2025, its best rank so far.
