Khaleesi is not a traditional name but a title from George R. R. Martin's fantasy saga A Song of Ice and Fire and its television adaptation Game of Thrones, where it means "queen" in the invented Dothraki language and is borne by Daenerys Targaryen. American parents turned it into a given name soon after the show premiered in 2011. Khaleesi entered the US top 1000 in 2014, peaked at number 549 in 2018, the year before the series ended, and still ranks number 690 in 2025.
