Kairos is the Greek word for "the right moment" or "opportune time", as opposed to chronos, plain clock time; the Greeks pictured Kairos as a youth with a lock of hair to be seized as he passed, and Christian theology uses the word for God's appointed time. The name was unrecorded in the United States in 2000 and ranked number 3829 in 2015, but has risen to number 1349 in 2025, its highest rank yet.
