Jovi is a modern American name of uncertain origin. It is usually explained through Jove, the Latin name of the god Jupiter, which also gives us the word jovial, so parents tend to read it as "cheerful" or "joyful"; the rock band Bon Jovi and the character Jovie in the movie Elf made the sound familiar. In the United States Jovi has risen from number 2488 in 2015 to number 1036 in 2025, its best rank so far.
