Joah is a Hebrew name, Yoach in the original, that means "Yahweh is brother"; it belongs to several minor figures in the Old Testament, including the royal recorder who negotiated with the Assyrians under King Hezekiah. Its appeal today comes from sitting squarely between Noah and Jonah. In the United States Joah ranked number 4906 in 2000, peaked at number 1960 in 2023 and stands at number 2028 in 2025 with 74 births.
