Jaylan is one of many spellings of Jalen, a modern American name that became popular in the 1990s through basketball star Jalen Rose, whose name combined the first letters of his father James and his uncle Leonard. It has no older meaning, though the Jay- opening is heard as the bird name "jay" and the -lan ending aligns it with Dylan and Rylan. Jaylan ranked number 635 in 2000, its peak, dropped out of the top 1000 in the following years and sits at number 2658 in 2025 with 49 boys.
