Jaquan is a modern American coinage that joins the popular prefix Ja- with the ending -quan, as in Daquan and Shaquan; it has "no inherent meaning" and is a creation of African American naming culture of the 1980s and 1990s. The name was at its height around the turn of the century, ranking number 445 in 2000. It has since dropped out of the US top 1000 and stands at number 2294 in 2025.
