Jailani is a modern American coinage that pairs the popular Jai- and Jay- sound with the ending of Hawaiian-inspired names such as Leilani and Kehlani, in which lani means "heaven" or "sky". In Malaysia and Indonesia the same spelling is also a male name honoring the Sufi saint Abdul Qadir al-Jilani. As a girl's name in the United States Jailani has shot up from number 9744 in 2015 to number 1785 in 2025, its highest rank so far.
