Jaylani is a modern American coinage that joins the popular Jay- sound of Jaylen and Jayla with the ending -lani, borrowed from Hawaiian names such as Leilani, where lani means "heaven" or "sky". It has no history before the 21st century and is a cousin of Kehlani and Kailani. Jaylani entered the US top 1000 in 2021 at number 799 and has risen quickly to number 471 in 2025, its best rank so far.
