Jahmir is a modern American name that blends the Ja- prefix of Jamal and Jamir with Amir, the Arabic word for "prince" or "commander"; some parents also read the first syllable as Jah, a name of God. It is used mainly in African American families and is a close cousin of Jamir and Zamir. Jahmir ranked number 2550 in 2000, entered the top 1000 in 2023 and reached number 726 in 2025, its best rank so far.
