Jafet is the Spanish form of Japheth, the Hebrew name of one of the three sons of Noah, which is usually explained as "enlarged" or "may he expand", after the blessing in Genesis that God would enlarge Japheth. It is used in Hispanic Protestant families in Mexico, Central America and the United States. Jafet is rare here, standing at number 2594 in 2000, peaking at number 1967 in 2001 and ranking number 2778 in 2025.
