Izzy began as a nickname for Isabella, Isabel and Isadora and is now given on its own; through Isabel it goes back to Elizabeth and the Hebrew meaning "God is my oath". Its cheeky, informal sound follows the trend of nicknames like Sadie and Frankie used as full names. Izzy reached number 1534 in 2022, its best rank, and stands at number 1903 among girls' names in 2025.
