Itzae is a modern name from Mexico and Mexican American families; it has no documented traditional meaning and is usually read as a masculine counterpart to Itzel or as a nod to the Itza, the Maya people of Chichen Itza, so it is best described as a "Maya-inspired coinage". It did not exist in the US data in 2000; it ranked number 2443 in 2015, peaked at number 1564 in 2020 and stood at number 2621 in 2025 with 50 boys.
